Born in Argentina in 1980, Juan Verdaguer studied piano and classic guitar as well as composition and music analysis with Gustavo Mirabile in the city of Buenos Aires. In 2007 he moved to The Netherlands to participate in the Gaudeamus Muziek Week and he continued his musical studies in that country, obtaining a bachelor degree in carillon music at the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht, a master degree in sonology at the Institute of Sonology and a master degree in music in the 'aus LICHT' special program, both masters at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Den Haag.

 

Parallel to these studies he attended regularly the “Stockhausen Konzert und Kurse Kürten” since 2008, specialising on the sound projection classes taught by Bryan Wolf, Kathinka Pasveer and Igor Kavulek, as well as Stockhausen’s Intuitive Musik Aufführungspraxis directed by the Weimar Ensemble für Intuitive Musik. 

He assisted Paul Jeukendrup in large orchestral performances such as HYMNEN III Region mit Orchester  –conducted by Peter Eötvös– in Munich 2015 and MICHAELs REISE by the Orkest Koninklijk Conservatorium with trumpeter Marco Blaauw in 2017. In 2016 and 2017 he performed KONTAKTE with Ellen Corver and Wim Vos in various festivals in Den Haag and Amsterdam. 

Between 2017 and 2019 he participated in the 'aus LICHT' production as teacher of Stockhausen's electronic music and as sound designer for Stockhausen's SYNTHI-FOU and EVAs LIED. He also followed the ‘aus LICHT' master program in sound projection (klangregisseur) obtaining his second master degree in music and specialising in the following Stockhausen's works: MICHAELs JUGEND, MICHAELs REISE, LUZIFERs TANZ, MÄDCHENPROZESSION, EVAs LIED, INVASION-EXPLOSION and ENGEL-PROZESSIONEN.

Nowadays he is working on new music transforming the sound of the carillons, trumpets and vocals (see more at Virtual Bells).
